TrueSky, on the App Store

Weather you read from a painting

TrueSky draws the weather as a painted landscape. The hourly forecast from Open-Meteo sets the light, the clouds, the wind and the rain, and the scene plays the matching sound.

How the scene works

Each landscape is a stack of painted layers: mountains, water, the shore, a cabin, a birch and a boat. Skia shaders light them for the hour, from first light to a quiet night with lit windows, drift the clouds with the wind and add rain, snow, fog or a storm. I kept it at 120 Hz by cutting the work done on every frame.
